OBI is just one long, thin piece of cloth, but it can be coordinated in many ways
depending on how it is tied.
Now we’ll introduce ‘DARARIHA Musubi’, the Darariha knot,
which is tied with a Hanhaba Obi (a half-width Obi).
About DARARIHA Musubi
“DARARIHA Musubi” is an adorable Obi knot featuring softly layered feathers
with a gently draped band over them.
Keeping the draped section short gives it a clean, mature look,
while a longer drape adds a sweeter, more charming impression.
What to Prepare
Hanhaba Obi (a half-width Obi)
How to Tie
1.Take 3 times the width of the Obi (about 18″) from the end and place it in the center
of the body. Wrap the Obi around the body twice.
2. Tie the knot with the Obi width as it is, so that the ‘Tare’ is on top.
3. Create a feather on the right side with the ‘Tare’, then make a pleat in the center.
4. Tie the feather created in step 3 together with the ‘Te’,
making sure the tip of the ‘Te’ overlaps that feather.
5. Pass the ‘Tare’ under the knot.
6. Use the ‘Tare’ from step 5 to cover the knot, tidy the shape and voila!
In the End
DARARIHA Musubi is a glamorous Obi style featuring two layered feathers
with a softly draped band that creates a lovely sense of dimension.
The gently swaying Darari catches the eye at summer festivals and fireworks displays.
Using an Obi with a bit of firmness will give it an even more polished finish.
