OBI is just one long, thin piece of cloth, but it can be coordinated in many ways
depending on how it is tied.
Now we’ll introduce ‘FUTAE GASANE Musubi’, the Futae Gasane knot,
which is tied with a Hanhaba Obi (a half-width Obi).
About FUTAE GASANE (Musubi)
“FUTAE GASANE (Musubi)” is an Obi knot with two feather-like wings softly layered together.
Though simple, the gentle sway of the obi as you walk adds a sweet, grown‑up charm.
With fewer steps required, it’s easy to tie and perfect for elegant everyday wear.
What to Prepare

How to Tie
1.Take 3 times the width of the Obi (about 18″) from the end and place it in the center
of the body. Wrap the Obi around the body twice.
2. Tie the knot with the Obi width as it is, so that the ‘Tare’ is on top.
3. With the ‘Tare’ hanging down, fold the ‘Te’ diagonally upward on top of it,
then pass the ‘Tare’ down through the knot.
4. Divide the ‘Tare’ into 4 sections, thread a temporary cord along the top edge of the Obi,
tie it in front, and tuck it inside the Obi so it stays hidden.
5. Adjust the ‘Tare’ slightly to finish the shape and viola!

Futae Gasane creates a soft, charming look when tied with a supple Obi, and a sleek,
stylish impression when paired with a firmer one.
